Brendan Rodgers favourite to be first Premier League manager sacked

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been made the 3/1 bookies favourite to be the first Premier League manager sacked next season. That’s despite the Northern Irishman receiving a vote of confidence from our owners at the end-of-season review (via the Mirror).

According to the Mirror, Rodgers position remains at risk, with the bookmakers putting him ahead of new Watford boss Sanchez Flores in their updated list of odds. As we reported yesterday – and the Mirror reference in their piece – Jurgen Klopp could be ready to take over following his self-enforced exile.

It’s a worrying state of affairs – as Rodgers pushes on with his summer transfer business with his future still seemingly handing in the balance. He’s already signed James Milner and Danny Ings and many supporters will be fearing a scenario which sees Rodgers dismissed during the early weeks of the season and a new manager left with players that he doesn’t want.

The best possible outcome now – with Rodgers definitely starting the season in charge – is that we keep faith with him for as long as we can and review the situation again in the build-up to the January transfer window.
