It’s either likely first-team football for Liverpool, or a bench role at Champions League club Chelsea, and the chance to work with Jose Mourinho, for Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao…

According to consistent French reports, cited here in the Echo, the Colombian striker will decide this summer between ourselves and Premier League champions Chelsea, with parent club AS Monaco likely to let him leave on loan for another term.

Falcao flopped at Manchester United, but he wasn’t truly given the chance to show the world-class finishing talent he’s displayed throughout the rest of his career.

His pedigree is undeniable, but at 29-years-old having suffered serious knee problems, the belief is that he’s past his sell-by date.

Still – would he be an upgrade on what we currently have? Bar a fit Daniel Sturridge (by no means a guarantee…), yes, he would.

The lure of Mourinho and London might prove too strong for Falcao, but the forward will surely want to play first-team football, and will likely be stuck behind Diego Costa in the Chelsea pecking order should he favour a Stamford Bridge switch…

We’d take Falcao at Anfield, provided he scales down his meteoric wage demands.
