Liverpool’s move for Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has edged closer, with the Hungarian expected to join us on a free transfer at the start of next month, along with both James Milner and Danny Ings.

According to reports in The Guardian, the Reds are ‘close’ to making the 27-year-old our third summer signing. He’s turned down a new deal to remain with Bolton, who he’s been with since 2007, and has held talks over making the switch to Anfield.

With Brad Jones having been released, we need a back-up for number one keeper Simon Mignolet, and Bogdan looks incredibly likely to be that man. He’s currently on international duty, preparing for a European qualifier against Finland, but The Guardian think that a deal could still be announced later this week.

Bogdan has made more than 100 appearances for Bolton but spent most of last season playing second fiddle to Andy Lonergan. He did feature against Liverpool in the FA Cup and impressed with a man-of-the-match performance.

It’s a necessary, albeit unexciting signing for us, that will be good to get done and dusted as soon as possible.
