Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has admitted that he’s been left feeling somewhat under-prepared this weekend, as he gets ready to be part of the Liverpool Legends team that are taking on Real Madrid this Sunday.

Owen joked on Twitter that he’d done ‘hardly any training’ and that it was ‘probably time to panic’ at the prospect of facing the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Fernando Morientes.

Don’t lie to us Michael, we know you’ve been gearing up for this one for months! The 35-year-old, who retired from football in 2013, made his Reds debut back in 1997 and went on to score 158 goals in just 297 games. His tally included -perhaps most famously – a brace against Arsenal in the 2001 FA Cup final, as he helped us win the treble.
He joined Real Madrid in 2004 but lasted just one season in Spain before returning to England with Newcastle United. An injury-plagued spell in the North East came to an end in 2009 when he joined our old rivals Manchester United. He spent three seasons at Old Trafford before finishing his career at the Britannia Stadium with Stoke City.
