(Tweet) Liverpool to offload Sterling to afford these two players…

If this is true, it’s going to cause serious unrest among the Anfield faithful…

Mirror journalist David Anderson claimed late last night that we’re going to spend any money generated from the Raheem Sterling sale on Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne and Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.

Nine players we’d like to see involved in any Sterling swap deal, with Manchester City & Chelsea stars

Sterling is being roundly chased by a host of Premier League clubs, with Sky Sports reporting Chelsea’s interest, and the Daily Mail claiming that Man City think they can finalise a £40m deal.

The player’s unhappiness is now fact, ever since his agent Aidy Ward claimed his client wouldn’t extend his Liverpool deal – even for £900k-per-week (via Evening Standard).

But regardless of Sterling’s state of mind – he won the Golden Boy award last time out, and is undeniably one of the most talented young attackers in the world. If we are to sell him, we need to reinvest the money in top, top talent – so that his departure actually makes us stronger.

By spending it on a young right-back and a static striker who only scores goals in gluts, we’re going to fall further behind last season’s top four, who are targeting exciting European renowned talent instead of mid-table Premier League players.

Why is our transfer policy such a parody of itself?
