Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a move for Roberto Firmino. At the risk of getting you excited for no reason, the Daily Mirror believes that this one really could happen, having cited reports in Brazil which claim that we have shown a ‘strong interest’ in the Hoffenheim forward.

As you’ll no doubt be aware, our squad is crying out for a top quality player to join our ailing strikeforce, and Firmino would certainly be a tick in the ‘marquee signings’ box. Manchester United and Manchester City have also been heavily linked with the 23-year-old but the Mirror believes we could pull off a surprise.

The player’s agent, Roger Wittmann, confirmed this week that his client will move to the Premier League this summer, although has refused to confirm the destination. The Mirror at least suggests that we’re at ‘the front of the queue’ to sign the youngster, who has scored 35 goals for club and country over the last two seasons.

We’ve already added one striker to our squad this summer – Burnley’s Danny Ings – but we’re believed to be on the lookout for more quality after growing frustrated with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert.

What do you reckon Reds – how happy would you be if this came off?
