Liverpool in ‘advanced negotiations’ for French Moreno replacement

Liverpool are very interested in signing Southampton’s right-back Nathaniel Clyne (via Echo) but it appears that we might be bringing in a new first-choice left-back as well, if reports are to be believed…

The Echo also claim that we’re in ‘advanced talks’ for PSG youngster Lucas Digne.

The 21-year-old has won eight caps for his excellent national side, but he’s never been able to tie down a guaranteed starting spot with the Ligue 1 giants since his £10m move from Lille three years back.

The report claims that Italian side Roma are also sniffing around Digne, who is one of the highest rated young fullbacks in Europe.

He prides himself on his engine and the offensive contribution he offers while marauding the left flank. Digne can pass, cross and overlap his winger – but then again – so can our current first-choice Alberto Moreno…

The news, if true, will no doubt be a sucker punch for Moreno, who while inconsistent, did show serious signs of potential this season just gone following his transfer from Sevilla last summer.

So Reds – which young defender would you prefer on the left of our defence come 2015/16…?
