Inter Milan have signed Kondogbia for £25m, paving way for Kovacic to sign for Liverpool

Italian giants Inter Milan have finalised a mega £25m move for prodigal French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, reports the Guardian.

The 22-year-old was superb at Monaco last season, especially impressing in the Champions League double-header with Arsenal. He’s one of the most highly rated all-action midfielders in Europe, and the transfer signals Nerazzurri’s intent ahead of 2015/16…

But more importantly, Liverpool fans should be celebrating Kondogbia’s arrival in Italy, as it surely will smooth Mateo Kovacic’s potential Anfield transfer.

La Gazzetta, cited here in the Mirror, claim that we’re only £3.5m under Inter’s valuation for the 21-year-old powerhouse, who is now available with Kondogbia arriving this summer at the San Siro, and Giannelli Imbula closing on a move, too (via Football Italia).

Kovacic is still raw, but has the potential to be as good as any midfielder in Europe. He’s terrifically powerful, can pass and drive through the centre, and shoot from range.

He’s emerged as our top central midfield target this summer with Steven Gerrard leaving. Along with the Bosman arrival of James Milner, the young Croat could help go someway in filling the gap our legendary departing skipper will leave.

If current star Emre Can – and potential signing Kovacic can maximise their talent in a Liverpool central midfield, we could be well set for the future. Although in truth, it’s genuine proven experience and ability we need all over the field right now, rather than talented youngsters.

Asier Illarramendi, 25, is also being heavily linked (via Daily Mail) today.
