Football fans have gone crazy on social media this morning, as the reaction to Roberto Firmino signing for Liverpool continues to roll in. The Reds are delighted and Manchester United fans are seemingly gutted – which is exactly the combination we like to see!

United were also linked with the 23-year-old Brazilian, who all but completed his move to Anfield earlier this morning, with the deal just a medical away from going through (via ESPN).
Supporters of both clubs won’t find it hard to recall the fact that Memphis Depay – who recently joined United – was strongly linked with Liverpool before that move went through. And no doubt the fact that we’ve got one over on our arch rivals this time around makes it all the more enjoyable.
This kind of coup certainly feels long overdue for us. It’s the first real signal of intent that we’ve made this summer, following a series of clever free transfers, and should hopefully be a sign of more good things to come.
Here’s what your fellow Reds have been saying…
We’re signing Firmino, Sterlings on his way out, Henderson on the cover of FIFA. Almost enough to make you forget last season ever happened.

Only two players were rated higher performance-wise via WhoScored than Firmino in the Bundesliga last season: Robben and De Bruyne. #LFC

If we secure Firmino it’ll lay to rest the myth that #LFC can’t attract top talent without CL footy. Flash enough cash & players will come.

Coutinho will have spoken to Firmino and convinced him we are the right club. No way the deal would progress like this so fast if he hadn’t.

29m is a lot but Firmino easily capable of having a hand in 15-20 goals a season for LFC. Similar rate to Sterling who may go for 50m

Firmino has scored 32 goals and created 37 assists in 73 league and cup appearances for Hoffenheim in the last two last seasons. #stats
