Danny Ward has agreed to join Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen on a season-long loan deal. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who signed a new long-term contract with the Reds earlier this week, will now seek out some much needed first-team experience.

The move, which is confirmed by our official website, will see Ward join up with the team that finished second in Scotland last season. Only perennial champions Celtic finished above the Dons, whose impressive campaign booked them a place in the Europa League qualifying rounds for next season.

Ward will compete with veterans Jamie Langfield and Scott Brown for a place in the side and hopefully prove himself capable of returning to the Liverpool first-team in the future.

The Welsh youth-team international is yet to make a senior appearance for us, although he was regularly included amongst the substitutes last season, following an injury to Brad Jones.

Ward has been on our books since 2012, when he joined from Wrexham, and spent the final month of last season on loan at Morecambe – making five appearances for the League Two team.

We wish Danny all the best with his year in Scotland.
