Recently, James Milner was subject to a free transfer to historic football club Liverpool FC. In this article the details of the transfer will be discussed, along with Milner’s stats, strengths, and what he can bring to Liverpool.

First of all, Milner has had a good season this year and the statistics are there to support this claim. The English midfielder has scored 8 goals in all competitions and has played 2334 minutes on average. This alone is better than Liverpool’s £50 million man Raheem Sterling, who managed to net 8 goals in 3649 minutes, in all competitions. In addition to this, Milner was Manchester City’s 5th top scorer this season and has earned himself 7 assists, which is more than Liverpool’s Brazilian maestro Phillipe Coutinho and Ex Captain Steven Gerrard.

Moreover, Milner has proved crucial in securing City many well needed wins this year. He scored in City’s 1-1 draw with Hull, along with scoring 2 goals in the 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday. Milner also scored a last minute goal in City’s 2-2 draw against CSKA Moscow in the champions league. Also, this season Milner has also shown he is very versatile, playing in multiple positions such as centre midfield, right back, left back, and as a forward. This is very useful as Milner could play in his preferred centre midfield role at Liverpool however could be moved up front in the case of an injured striker. Moreover, Milner has seemed to provide confidence to his new team mates, with Vice Captain Jordan Henderson saying Milner is a “fantastic” signing and also Steven Gerrard seems to be “Very Confident” that Milner will be a success at Liverpool.

Furthermore, James Milner cost Liverpool £0, which is a bargain for the Merseyside Club. Milner provides good quality and has champions league experience along with being a versatile, proven player. This is something Liverpool have lacked instead of investing players who have no top level experience and are not frequent first team starters.

Overall I believe James Milner is a superb signing considering his price and experience and I believe he can earn Liverpool a top 4 place in the 2015/2016 season.
