Five remaining Liverpool striker targets following Carlos Bacca’s Serie A switch

Carlos Bacca was a reported transfer target of ours this summer, but the Colombian recently announced that he would be signing for Serie A side AC Milan, according to Sky Sports.

We are badly in need of reinforcements up front, and there are still a few options left to us:

5) Salomon Rondon

The Venezuelan is undeniably talented, but there are question marks over whether he would make the grade at Liverpool. He is fairly one dimensional, and won’t offer us much more than a goal threat. That is of course the main role of a lone striker however, and we could certainly do far worse than the Southa American star.

Hopefully Rondon is not our primary target, but he would arguably be far better than nothing.

4) Gonzalo Higuain

The Argentine has seemed out of our reach in recent months, with Napoli demanding excessive fees for the in demand former Real Madrid man.

The Express claims he has demanded a move this summer however, insisting that the Serie A side accept te bid that we have allegedly made.

I suspect this one is unlikely to go through, but if we pull it off it would be one of our best signings in years.

3) Javier Hernandez

We have recently been linked with a somewhat surprising move for wantaway Manchester United star Javier Hernandez, with the Mexican international returning to Old Trafford following a loan spell at Real Madrid.

He enjoyed mixed success with the La Liga giants, but showed glimpses of real quality when given a chance.

I’m not sure I can see him leading the line alone for us, but he may prove a somewhat cheaper option when compared to some of the other names on this list.

2) Alexandre Lacazette

The prolific French forward has been an absolute revelation this past season, and would be my first choice signing if given the option. The Star claim Lyon have lowered their asking price to a very reasonable £21m, with the Ligue 1 side looking to cash in after contract talks stalled.

His goalscoring stats in 2014/15 were nothing short of phenomenal, and he would unquestionably take us up a notch if he were to arrive on Merseyside.

1) Christian Benteke

Not the player I would like to see most don a Liverpool shirt next season, but I do believe he is one of the most likely and achievable signings.

The Independent claims we are willing to offer either Rickie Lambert or Fabio Borini in part exchange for the Belgian, with Brendan Rodgers looking to put a dent in the £32.5m asking price.

He certainly wouldn’t be a bad signing, and I feel he could be a success at the club. He is not at the level of Lacazette or Higuain however, and we shouldn’t be settling for second best.
