Our imminent acquisition of Nathaniel Clyne is looking like an extremely positive transfer, and he is sure to be a real success at Anfield. We are not the only ones who will benefit from the sale however, with Crystal Palace also receiving a £2.5m fee from a sell on fee (via the Daily Mail).

Here are the top seven biggest sell on fees received by Premier League clubs:
7) Les Ferdinand – £6m
Newcastle from QPR
Hayes receive £600,000
The lump sum Hayes received was used to build a function room, which was named “The Ferdinand Suite” in the Newcastle legend’s honour.
6) James McCarthy – £13m
Everton from Wigan
Hamilton Academicals receive £1.95m
Scottish side Hamilton Academical sold McCarthy for just £1.2m in 2009, and received substantially more than that when Wigan sold him to Everton.
5) Ashley Young – £17.5m
Manchester United from Aston Villa
Watford receive £2.5m
The newly promoted side put a 15% sell on clause into the deal when they sold Young to Villa, and it certainly paid off for them.
4) Nathaniel Clyne £12.5m
Liverpool from Southampton
Crystal Palace receive £2.5m
The Eagles weren’t thrilled about losing Clyne in the first place, but they will feel a little better about the loss due to the £2.5m they will earn for him following our imminent acquisition of the young full-back.
3) Cesc Fabregas – £30m
Chelsea from Barcelona
Arsenal receive £5.6m
Arsenal fans were devastated when the Spaniard left the Emirates, and were even more distraught when he joined Chelsea. The fans might not take much solace in the windfall they received following his move to the Blues, but Arsene Wenger probably did.
2) Adam Lallana – £23m
Liverpool from Southampton
Bournemouth receive £5.75m
The Cherries put a massive 20% sell on clause into the deal when they sold Adam Lallana to Southampton at a very young age, and the shrewd nature of the investment really paid off when we spent big on the former Saints captain.
1) David Bentley – £15m
Tottenham from Blackburn
Arsenal receive £7m
With the calibre of player in this list, it’s strange to see David Bentley right at the top. He earned Arsenal a whopping £7m when he joined North London rivals Tottenham however, making the switch back in 2008.
Other notable mentions:
Gareth Bale – £85m
Southampton were set to receive a massive 25% of any sell on fee for Bale, but they foolishly waived the sell on clause for a one time fee of £3m.
The would have received over £20m if they had have held their nerve.
Raheem Sterling – £50m?
Sterling has been heavily linked with a big money move to Manchester City recently, with the Citizens looking to bolster their home grown talent.
We signed him from QPR for just £500,000 in 2010, but the London club will also get 25% of any potential sell on fee.
That means if we sell him for the reported £50m, then QPR will get a whopping £12.5m.
