Aston Villa are seemingly determined to hang on to star striker Christian Benteke this summer… or at least add an extra couple of digits on to his price tag.

The Midlands side have included the forward on a promotional poster – released via their official Twitter account as seen below – showing the 24-year-old modelling their new kit for the 2015-16 season.

Of course, having a player linked with a transfer wearing your new kit is nothing new. Raheem Sterling was among the players shown in the new Liverpool strip earlier this year, despite being linked with a move to Manchester City, as The Telegraph reports.

Benteke has been widely linked with a move to Anfield, so much so that it led to talkSPORT to suggest on Wednesday that a deal was virtually completed, only for their claims to be shot down by the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds are in desperate need of a new striker having struggled for goals since the departure of Luis Suarez last season. The Belgian target man is widely thought to be the favourite to fill that void this summer, although we have so far made little progress in our attempts to strike a compromise over the reported £32.5m asking price (Echo).
