The answer, it seems, is no. As if our wantaway forward wasn’t already in enough hot water with his own manager, teammates and supporters, it appears that he remains intent on alienating anyone that could possibly still like him.
As BBC Sport have now confirmed, the 20-year-old has requested to miss our pre-season tour of the Far East, as he continues to chance that elusive move to Manchester City.
The BBC tells us that Sterling made the request after City’s latest bid for his services, believed to be worth around the £40m mark, was rejected – with Liverpool still chasing closer to £50m (via The Telegraph).
Liverpool are due to travel to Bangkok this Sunday then fly on to Australia and Malaysia as part of a two-week trip. By the end of the trip, there will be less than two weeks remaining until the start of the new Premier League season, and Sterling is seemingly wary of doing anything that will make his sale any harder to facilitate.
Needless to say, his actions have not gone down all that well…
Sell sterling now clearly doesn’t wanna be there, sign up Lacazette, Pedro and Benatia who’s out of favour at bayern

Some say #LFC have handled Sterling saga badly, that we should hurry and sell him. Utter bull. Sell for £50m, or not at all, its our choice! — Mike Wilson (@Redsmail) July 8, 2015
One of the reasons #LFC were against selling Suarez to a rival was his mentality. Same with Sterling? Don’t think so pic.twitter.com/XJyBTwxq3A

So Sterling has told LFC he won’t join their pre-season tour; an attitude that fits no definition of professional that I recognise. — Brian Moore (@brianmoore666) July 8, 2015
It’s the fact that Sterling is disrespecting the club and manager that have brought him through and give him a chance, no respect at all!

Come on Citeh make another offer the sooner Ratheem Sterling is gone the better. — Mark Moraghan (@MarkMoraghan) July 8, 2015
As much as it’d be nice to let the little rat, Sterling, rot for a season & waste a year of his career, a £50m bid is too good to turn down.

Bin Sterling the sooner the better. — PeteKopite (@PeteKopite) July 8, 2015
Sterling’s disrespect for the club makes me sick to the stomach. We’ve given him the opportunity to show his potential.Enjoy the City bench

What’s pathetic isn’t Sterling wanting to leave but the public way he’s doing it. #LFC — Premier League Talk (@LFCLegacy) July 8, 2015
Pedro and Lacazette for Sterling money is a dream

Raheem Sterling represents everything wrong with modern football. Hugely talented but got an awful attitude and ultimately all about money. — Anfield Chat (@TheAnfieldChat) July 7, 2015
All this Sterling business reminds me of how Anelka behaved. And look what an unloved journeyman he ultimately became.

Jordan Ibe stays at home no holiday, for extra training. Sterling refusing to go on tour. Such a difference between the two. — Eathen.. (@hunter_troll) July 7, 2015
Whether it’s caused by hippy crack or delusions of grandeur, Sterling is clearly unwell. Any player with Aidy Ward as his agent must be #LFC
— Richard Buxton (@RichardBuxton_) July 8, 2015
The kid’s embarassing himself more than the club. After everything the club did for him during his court appearances. Get rid #Sterling #LFC
— LFCZA (@LFCZA) July 8, 2015
Remember when it was really #edgy to say that the Sterling situation was the club’s fault, and he wasn’t being a massive foreskin?
— Brenzie (@Brenzie) July 8, 2015
I know it doesn’t work like this, but i’d love to see how ‘irretrievably broken’ the Sterling/Rodgers relationship is from the ressies bench
