Summer signing XI – how we could line up with Firmino, Milner, Clyne, and co

We have already made a number of fantastic signings this summer, with the likes of James Milner and Roberto Firmino joining the club. But how will all these signings fit into our current side?

Below is a starting XI consisting of all our new signings so far:

GK) Adam Bogdan

The former Bolton shot-stopper will most likely be restricted to cup competitions, but he will hopefully provide some much needed competition for Simon Mignolet and push the Belgian to perform.

We saw the reaction from Mignolet after being dropped last season, but we need him to have that motivation consistently.

RB) Nathaniel Clyne

The former Southampton man was one of the stars of the season in 2014/15, and was a large part of the Saints’ superb defensive stability.

He is fantastic going forward as well, and we can rely on him to provide width down the right hand side.

Plus, the arrival of Clyne will free up Emre Can to play a more advanced role in the team.

LB) Alberto Moreno

We saw glimpses of the quality Moreno possesses last season, and hopefully he’ll kick on and improve further in the new campaign.

Just like Clyne he is superb going forward, and if he can work on his defensive attributes then he could grow into a top quality left-back.

CB) Joe Gomez

The young centre-back would arguably be far better served spending next season on loan, as he is unlikely to see regular first team football if he remains at Anfield.

With the likes of Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel, and Dejan Lovren, the former Charlton Athletic youngster would find himself way down the pecking order were he to stay.

CB) Mamadou Sakho

An injury plagued season prevented Sakho from really shining, but he will most likely be part of our first choice parternship in 2015/16.

Alongside Skrtel he is capable of making us a fortress, and his natural physical attributes and athletic ability will be a huge bonus.

CM) Jordan Henderson

Potentially our future long-term captain, Henderson has come on leaps and bounds in recent seasons.

With the new signings we’ve made he will be competing with the likes of James Milner and Emre Can for a regular starting spot, with Joe Allen also no doubt hoping to secure more playing time.

CM) James Milner

The former Manchester City man’s versatility could be massive next season, and it’s unclear as of yet which position he’ll be used in primarily.

He is keen to play more centrally, and his industriousness could see him become a huge success in midfield.

CAM) Roberto Firmino

Unquestionably our best signing of the window so far, the Brazilian is another player who can play in a variety of positions.

He is deployed up front for the international side, but was utilised as more of a No.10 in the Bundesliga. He could form a deadly partnership with his compatriot Coutinho, and whether used as a striker or an attacking midfielder he is sure to get us goals.

RAM) Coutinho

Our player of the season, Coutinho has gone from strength to strength since his arrival at Anfield. The diminutive Brazilian is already one of the Premier League’s finest, and there is no telling how high he can go.

He is arguably most comfortable as a No.10, but with the arrival of Firmino Brendan Rodgers may have to switch things around to fit all our stars into the team.

LAM) Adam Lallana

Lallana took a while to settle into life in Liverpool, and injuries didn’t exactly help. He was starting to look more like the player we signed from Southampton towards the end of the season however, and he will hopefully continue to improve in 2015/16.

He’s arguably the only natural choice for the left-wing, but there are plenty of right-footed players who could cut inside from the left.

ST) Danny Ings

The former Burnley man is unlikely to be our first choice throughout the season, but he should get some game time at least until Daniel Sturridge returns.

He isn’t the marquee signing that many were hoping to see, but he is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League.

We currently still have Fabio Borini, Mario Balotelli, and Rickie Lambert on our books, but you would expect Ings to start ahead of all three of them.
