Rickie Lambert closing in on West Brom transfer

Posted by

Rickie Lambert’s romantic move to the club of his dreams has sadly not worked out, but you can be sure we’ll greet the ageing forward kindly when he returns to Anfield this year – likely with West Brom.

According to multiple reports this morning, notably in the Daily Mail, the Baggies are only competing with Norwich for Lambert’s services, after Liverpool made it abundantly clear to the player and his representatives that he would be allowed to join a new club this summer.

The England international has been a playing member of our pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, but with the imminent arrival of Aston Villa powerhouse Christian Benteke (via BBC Sport) – Lambert’s going to drop even further down the pecking order.

New signings Danny Ings and Divock Origi – and Benteke and Daniel Sturridge (when healthy), will have been selected ahead of Lambert this term, so it’s in the best interest of the club and the player for us to part ways.

Lambert bagged just two goals last term in the top flight, but he always gave 100%, and we’ll wish him all the best.
