Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez were all smiles last night, as they featured on opposing sides during LA Galaxy’s friendly match with Barcelona. The former Liverpool teammates spent three years together at Anfield and were clearly delighted to be reunited, with Gerrard posting this message on Instagram after the game…
Suarez scored as Barcelona won the game 2-1, while 93,000 fans were in attendance in what was a record attendance for a game involving a MLS side. The duo came close to inspiring Liverpool to a maiden Premier League title in 2014, scoring 44 goals between them as the Reds finished second in the top flight behind Manchester City. That campaign proved to be Suarez’s last as a Liverpool player and he joined the Spanish giants in a big money move later that year. Gerrard lasted another year at Anfield before he ended his 17 year association with the Reds’ first-team, making the move to the States after his contract expired.
