Martin Skrtel demands fourth successive victory to complete perfect tour

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is urging his teammates to maintain their high standards today, as the Reds complete our tour of the Far East with a game against the Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been near-perfect thus far, winning four games out of four and conceding just one goal. The Thai All-Stars, Brisbane Roar, Adelaide United and Felda United have all been dispatched, with several of our new signings among the most impressive members of our squad.

James Milner, Joe Gomez, Danny Ings and Nathaniel Clyne have all shone, while the likes of Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson have been equally impressive as the new Premier League season draws ever closer.

With the likes of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can still to join back up with the rest of the squad, there is a refreshing sense of optimism sweeping around Anfield.

In quotes taken by Liverpool Echo, Skrtel said of our final tour game: “It’s still mostly about fitness and getting ready for the season. I think it’s going to be a similar game to the one in Bangkok. We just need to be ready and do our job and win the game.

“We’ve been away for such a long time and we’re finishing the tour and obviously want to finish strong. Then we’ve got some days off to get some rest and after that we’ll carry on our work and preparation for the beginning of the season.”

Skrtel has plenty to play for himself, with the two central defensive spots still very much up for grabs ahead of our new campaign. The Slovakian is expected to start alongside Dejan Lovren today, but Mamadou Sakho is likely to be waiting eagerly for his chance as well.
