New skipper Jordan Henderson has praised the role of the incoming staff this summer, who’ve ‘freshened’ up the training ground and Liverpool’s ideas ahead of the forthcoming season.
Due to our early Champions League exit, cup failures and sixth place Premier League finish, Brendan Rodgers chose to fire his assistant Colin Pascoe and first-team coach Mike Marsh – replacing the pair with Sean O’Driscoll and Gary McAllister respectively.
Henderson has enjoyed their input on the pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia and has praised the ‘positive’ effect the duo have had – along with the many new signings who’ve also joined.

The 25-year-old’s been training with Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Divock Origi – and will join up with the summer’s two marquee captures – Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino – when the touring squad returns to Melwood shortly.
“We’ve obviously talked about the problems that we had last season,” he toldLiverpoolfc.com, reported in the Echo.
“We are working on it in pre-season and are obviously trying different things, but it’s been freshened up as well with the new staff and some new players.
“I think that’s really freshened us up and like I say everything is looking positive so far, but we’ve got to keep going, keep working hard and pushing ourselves to the limits then come the first game of the season we will be raring to go.”
Henderson seems to be enjoying the responsibility of being Liverpool’s full-time captain, speaking regularly in the media and playing with real vigour and enthusiasm during the friendly fixtures.
We have to hope it doesn’t take too long for the new arrivals to gel with last season’s squad though, knowing that a strong start is key to our chances of a top four finish this campaign.
