(Video) Joao Carlos Teixeira’s amazing 40-yard goal against Felda United

Remember Felda United? They were the team Liverpool played in a random pre-season friendly during our tour of the Far East. We beat them 7-0, with Danny Ings stealing the show by scoring a hat-trick.

However, the pick of the goals was this effort from Joao Carlos Teixeira. The Portuguese, who spent last season on loan at Brighton and won our academy player of the year award, hit the ball incredibly sweetly and was promptly mobbed by his teammates after watching his effort loop over the helpless goalkeeper.

The 22-year-old’s chances of playing regular first-team football next season look fairly remote, considering the amount of depth we have in the attacking midfield positions, but he will have done his chances no harm with this moment of brilliance.

Teixeira did brilliantly just do be on the tour, having recovered from a broken leg in just a couple of months to ensure he booked his place on the plane, and did not look out of place among his more senior teammates.

Wherever he mind end up, we hope that is proves to be a good season for our young starlet!
