Liverpool fans vote for ideal Starting XI – No Lallana & Allen doesn’t even make 17-man bench

The Liverpool Echo have conducted an interesting poll in which fans have voted for their perfect Liverpool starting XI, assuming everyone is fit and healthy.

The supporters have voted in a 4-2-3-1 formation which enables us to get three of our many superb attacking midfielders on the field. It does mean though that they’ve plumped for Christian Benteke up top on his own ahead of Daniel Sturridge – though we feel they may have found the injury amnesty difficult to ignore. A fit and firing Sturridge could be the first name on the team-sheet of course.

Interestingly, Gomez has got the nod over Moreno at left-back following his pre-season exploits, and Ibe’s form in the friendlies sees him get the nod over Adam Lallana too.

The fans have neglected selecting an anchoring midfielder, but Emre Can was the most selected substitute.

According to the Echo, Simon Mignolet, Nathaniel Clyne and Jordan Henderson got the most votes, which is interesting as we thought Coutinho would be the most selected outfield player.

Below is the side and the subs selected.

SUBS (in order of ‘most votes’): Emre Can, Alberto Moreno, Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge, Lucas, Dejan Lovren, Danny Ings, Jon Flanagan, Tiago Ilori, Divock Origi, Lazar Markovic, Adam Bogdan, Kolo Toure, Mario Balotelli, Jose Enrique, Fabio Borini, Ryan Fulton

No Allen, Teixeira, Rossiter.
