Jordan Henderson scan results in – Report claims Rodgers was targeting African midfielder as emergency replacement

Liverpool’s captain Jordan Henderson could hand the Reds a timely boost ahead of our Premier League showdown with top four rivals Arsenal on Monday, with reports confirming that the midfielder didn’t break a bone in his foot against Bournemouth last time out.

As the Daily Mirror have today revealed, there were fears in the Liverpool camp that our skipper had done some serious damage against the Cherries, with the injury he picked up eventually causing him to be substituted early in the second-half.

However, the Mirror states that a series of scans have since cooled such concerns, and the absence of any hairline fracture has given the 25-year-old an outside chance of starting at the Emirates Stadium next week.

The news will come as a huge relief to all concerned, including manager Brendan Rodgers, who according to the source was planning an emergency raid of the transfer market to find cover for his midfield general. Alex Song is the player we considered, but the Cameroonian signed for West Ham, the report claims.

Henderson will still be given time to recover and, as such, is unlikely to feature much in training this week. That could mean that Emre Can or Lucas Leiva start Monday’s game, which will surely prove a real test to our currently unblemished Premier League record this season.
