Liverpool may not risk Jordan Henderson for Arsenal clash

Our captain Jordan Henderson hasn’t trained yet this week and is looking a serious doubt for the difficult trip to Arsenal next Monday evening, confirms the Echo.

The skipper limped out of the Bournemouth victory on Monday evening due to a foot problem he’d been nursing the previous week, and he’s not been able to quickly overcome it.

Henderson played on painkillers against the Cherries, and while he hasn’t broken anything, he’s in significant discomfort.

If Henderson isn’t fit for the trip, we’ve got Emre Can who can directly replace him alongside James Milner in the midfield.

The German has done well in his two substitute appearances so far this term, and will be raring to go should he get the nod. Even if Henderson is fit, Can might find himself in the side, with the possibility of an extra midfielder being selected for added defensive stability.

Really though, the medical team should be doing everything they can to alleviate Henderson’s problems and get him ready to play. His energy and work-rate will be crucial to our chances of leaving the Emirates with anything.
