Lucas and Mario Balotelli set to stay at Liverpool, despite contradictory reports

Liverpool are NOT on the verge of offloading Lucas Leiva and Mario Balotelli – as has been reported in some areas of the press this weekend – with the Liverpool Echo confirming that both players will remain with the Reds for the time being, with no business of any kind likely to occur until after Monday’s game with Arsenal.

As the Echo states, Lucas has recently been linked with a season-long loan to Besiktas while Balotelli has reportedly been negotiating a loan move back to AC Milan, but neither report is thought to be accurate – big surprise there!

Indeed, the Echo expects Lucas to play some part in our game in North London tomorrow, with Jordan Henderson unlikely to make the trip due to injury. With Joe Allen also sidelined, it will be either the Brazilian or teammate Emre Can who partners James Milner in the centre of our midfield.

According to the source, Balotelli did fly back to Italy this weekend, but it was not to discuss a transfer. The 25-year-old regularly flies home when not involved with the match-day squad and, having not been utilised at all since last season, he has returned once again to see his family and friends.

We hope that clears that up!
