Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move to Liverpool and the Premier League for quite some time (via the Liverpool Echo), with the success he enjoyed prior to leaving Borussia Dortmund making him a highly sought after manager.
The German boss has spoken about a potential return to management (via the Echo), and suggests he is looking for a new project to start work on.
As the report suggests, it was thought Klopp may have been set replace Rodgers this past summer, with our 2014/15 season undeniably somewhat disappointing. The FSG group put their faith in the Northern Irishman however, and he has consequently remained with the club – for now.
Klopp claims he is looking for a new challenge, and the Anfield post looks to be perfectly suited to the 48-year-old.
“I’m really very relaxed – but only because I know that it goes some time. I’ll be back to train a team,” he said.
“Not an absolute top club, there are other good projects that are exciting who need help.”
We are still one of the world’s biggest clubs, but it’s impossible to deny that we’ve fallen from grace massively in recent years. We should be back in the Champions League and challenging for the title regularly, and Klopp may be the manager to help us do that in the future.
His agent Marc Kosicke echoed his sentiments, and suggested that if his client were to move to a Premier League team, it would not be one of the top four regulars.
“We do not only think about the top four because there are some other great clubs below them,” Kosicke said.
“It is always all about the challenge.
“He has the great ability to develop things. If he goes into a stadium, feels the energy and thinks that he can make a difference here, this could be more attractive to him than going with the big deals and aim for the treble.”
Klopp was able to raise Dortmund to incredible heights, and built a side capable of challenging a Bayern Munich team which has dominated the Bundesliga for years.

Rodgers is a fantastic manager, and we will keep faith with him as long as he is in charge at Anfield. If we are to replace him though, then we should be targeting managers of the highest calibre, and Klopp certainly falls into that category.
