Henderson and Lallana fitness updates pre Man United v Liverpool

The international break is finally over, and we can truly focus solely on this Saturday’s crunch clash with Manchester United.

And the Echo has given us an update on the fitness of Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana – both of whom have missed our past two Premier League fixtures.

Skipper Jordan Henderson is rated as a ‘doubt’ although he has responded positively to treatment on the heel injury he picked up against Bournemouth. The club will do more tests with the captain later in the week and he’s by no means ruled out yet.

Attacking midfielder Lallana similarly missed the international break with England, but is closer to a return that Henderson says the report – and Rodgers thinks he’ll have the 27-year-old available.

This will be important, as our best player Coutinho is suspended – meaning we’ll need a creative performance from Lallana, Roberto Firmino or Jordon Ibe – preferably all three.

Elsewhere in terms of injuries, Daniel Sturridge is not close to a return, nor is Jon Flanagan.
