Martin Skrtel is mad for Liverpool new-boy

Danny Ings is quickly becoming a favourite among Liverpool supporters and it appears he’s pretty popular with his new team-mates as well.

Martin Skrtel has lauded the Englishman’s contribution in training, praising his work-rate and clever movement.

“I know he didn’t score but facing him was tough, really tough. I remember how he never stopped running and moving,” the centre-back told Liverpool’s official website.

“If you switched off for even a second he was gone and he’s been the same in training here. I’m glad he’s with us now.

“The amount of work he puts in every day is huge and I’m hoping he can score lots of goals this season.”

Although he didn’t find the back of the net on Saturday during our 3-2 win over Aston Villa, Ings linked up excellently with two-goal Daniel Sturridge, and the partnership actually looked more effective than when £32.5m Christian Benteke partnered Sturridge the week previous.

Ings has scored two goals so far, and he should get the chance to add to his tally with his Belgian rival out of action with a hamstring injury.

Before his arrival, Liverpool fans thought Ings a hard worker who potentially lacked the highest quality, but at 23-years-old, he’s showing the potential to be much more than that.

Last term he bagged 11 in total, but that was for a Burnley side who got relegated and barely created a thing – so if he gets a prolonged run in the side – he’ll have a good chance of bettering that.
