Christian Benteke will miss Tottenham clash, but Roberto Firmino has outside chance of return

Our two blockbuster summer signings have endured difficult starts to their Liverpool careers, but both will be keen to make a name for themselves under new manager Jurgen Klopp – who actually targeted the pair during his time at Borussia Dortmund.

But Christian Benteke will have to wait, as he has yet to recover from his hamstring injury and will not be available for the trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday, the Echo report.

Benteke limped off versus Norwich on September 20th, and missed the international break with Belgium as a result.

Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino, who’s yet to register a goal or an assist in red, is closer to returning though, the report confirms. He hobbled off after landing awkwardly on his back against Carlisle, which summed up his subdued start to life on Merseyside.

The £29m signing, who similarly missed Brazil’s international fixtures, could start training very soon – although it’s unlikely new manager Jurgen Klopp will risk him against Tottenham with Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Jordon Ibe fit. Enough cover for the forward roles.
