Danny Ings also out for season in unbelievable day of Liverpool injury blows

English forward Danny Ings will miss the entire season through injury, it’s been revealed by the Telegraph.

The 23-year-old twisted his knee during his first training session under new boss Jurgen Klopp – rupturing his knee ligaments in the process.

The news is totally devastating to Liverpool after young defender Joe Gomez was similarly ruled out for the season this morning, having torn his ACL while playing for England Under-21s.

Ings arrived from Burnley in the summer and out of all the summer signings, he’s arguably impressed the most. His work-rate has been infectious, and towards the end of Brendan Rodgers’ reign, Ings’ name rung round Anfield more than the rest of his more established colleagues.

With Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino injured, Klopp now has only the injury-prone but currently healthy Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi to choose from.

It’ll be a bitter blow for the German before he’s even taken charge of a competitive match.

We wish Ings a speedy recovery.
