(Video) Jurgen Klopp “completely satisfied” to begin Liverpool reign with 0-0 draw at Tottenham

Jurgen Klopp described our 0-0 draw away at Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon as a ‘completely satisfactory’, if not a “dream”, start to his reign as Liverpool manager.

Two Champions League hopefuls cancelled each other out at White Hart Lane, with Divock Origi coming the closest to scoring when his instinctive header hit the crossbar early on.

Speaking to BBC Sport after his first match in charge since replacing Brendan Rodgers, Klopp admitted that a draw was a fair result, and gives us something to build on going forward.

“Nil-nil is not my dream result but it is OK,” BBC Sport quote him as saying. “I am happy because I saw many good things, in the first 20 minutes we were pressing and were very aggressive.

“We will get stronger. We were a little bit nervous when we got the ball because the pulse was a little too high at this moment.

“There were many full-throttle moments in the game. We need to improve but after working with the players for three days I am completely satisfied.”

A hard-earned point at White Hart Lane is indeed a promising start to the German’s tenure considering that we were without Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Christian Benteke among others.

Our next three fixtures are more winnable on paper and will give Klopp a great chance to sample the Anfield atmosphere, as they are all at home across three different competitions.

Rubin Kazan are Thursday’s visitors in the Europa League. We then host Southampton in the Premier League on October 25, before facing Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup the following Wednesday.
