Klopp admires Markovic and could recall him in January

Lazar Markovic’s loan spell in Turkey could be cut prematurely by Liverpool’s new manager Jurgen Klopp, who rates the Serbian flyer highly, the Echo exclusively claim.

Markovic left for Fenerbahce at the start of the season, but it turns out Klopp is an admirer, and Liverpool do have a recall option inserted into the winger’s contract.

The 21-year-old arrived at Anfield for £20m last summer from Benfica, but Brendan Rodgers clearly didn’t clearly rate him and barely gave him any minutes.

In fact, Markovic only made 19 Premier League appearances, the majority from the bench, and in seemingly random positions.

Markovic is an attacking midfielder, but Rodgers consistently used him as a wing-back, just as he did with the similarly departed Raheem Sterling.

It isolated the youngster who was unable to display his undeniable talent. There’s been glimpses of it so far in Turkey, but we could see it in the Premier League during the second half of the season if Klopp does decide to bring Markovic back.

Earlier in the season, we wrote a piece on why Liverpool were making a huge mistake in loaning out Lazar Markovic. See how it reads now considering this latest news: Why loaning out Lazar Markovic is stupid

Should we cancel the loan deal and give Markovic a chance in our first-team?
