Joe Allen linked with January transfer to two Premier League clubs

Jurgen Klopp is not a fan of Welsh midfielder Joe Allen, and will consider accepting bids for him come January, according to reports in the Daily Star, cited in the Mirror.

The German manager has gone with Lucas in holding midfield in his first two Premier League matches, and hauled Allen off just 45 minutes into his Europa League appearance versus Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

With Jordan Henderson currently out injured, Allen will have another player blocking his path to first-team action in the coming weeks, and the media reckon that high-flying Leicester, yesterday’s opponents Southampton and Mark Hughes’ Stoke City will compete for his services.

And in fairness, those clubs are probably more reflective of Allen’s ability than our own, with the 25-year-old struggling to consistently impose himself since arriving in summer 2012 for £15m.

Too often he goes missing, and his clever feet and occasionally slick passes rarely change matches – while his lack of physicality is telling in the intense Premier League.

We doubt Klopp really has decided definitely on his future though, but wouldn’t be too disappointed if these reports turned out to be true nonetheless.
