Jordan Henderson is back in training, but it’s bad news for Lazar Markovic and fellow Liverpool loanee elsewhere

Club captain Jordan Henderson is back training at Melwood with the rest of the first-team squad having broken his metatarsal and being plagued with a heel problem at the same time, the Echo report.

Sadly though, Luis Alberto and Lazar Markovic are facing a spell on the sidelines due to injuries picked up on their loan spells. Alberto has travelled back to Liverpool from Deportivo La Coruna for treatment on a groin strain, while Markovic, who’s only just returned from injury, is facing a month out with a muscle problem. This is especially irritating as both would like to be playing right now in order to impress new manager Jurgen Klopp, who’s already stated that our loan players would be with him in Liverpool if he had the choice (via the Metro).

But the news on Henderson is good, and the sooner we see the midfield dynamo back the better. He’s not played since August and is yet to feature for his new boss. In fact, his absence was a primary reason for our poor form in September and run of draws, although it was underplayed in the press.

Thankfully, the 25-year-old should slot straight into Klopp’s thinking because of his exceptional attitude, work-rate and and defensive contribution. He’s more creative than James Milner, and could slot seamlessly into the side next to Lucas in the midfield double pivot.

It’s likely that we’ll now see him after the international break on November 21.
