Mario Balotelli’s loan spell is not going to plan, heading to see groin specialist

Mario Balotelli’s season on loan at AC Milan is not going to plan.

The Italian’s not played in a over a month due to a groin problem, and will now head to Denmark to see a specialist.

“AC Milan announce that Mario Balotelli has undergone further consultation,” a club statement read.

“He has travelled to Copenhagen and will be treated by Professor Per Holmich.

“The medical staff of Milan and Liverpool will agree on a new short course of treatment for the player.”

His last game was a defeat to Genoa in September, and he’s only scored one goal in Serie A since we agreed to lend him to his former club towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Balotelli’s debut season with Liverpool was an unmitigated disaster, and despite spending £16m on him, he was lent freely back to Italy – with our club still paying a portion of his wages!

Injuries played their part while he was on Merseyside, but it was predominantly his attitude and poor performances which saw him cast out by Brendan Rodgers.

Of course, Jurgen Klopp is in charge now, but we cannot imagine the player’s selfish attitude is something that would endear him to the German. In fact, Balotelli adapting to ‘gegenpressing’ seems about as unlikely as Rodgers signing him for his next club, and perhaps the best we can hope for is that the striker gets fit, scores some goals and maximises his sell-on value.
