Lewandowski’s agent names likely price-tag and admits English club’s interest

We included the Robert Lewandowski to Liverpool story from this morning in our ‘Nonsense transfer rumour of the day‘ section, but now his agent has discussed a potential transfer it has (very slightly) more credence…

Early this Tuesday afternoon, quotes have been released from Maik Barthel, the Polish striker’s German agent which are at least worth of re-reporting.

“It would be wrong to say there is no interest,” he told SportBild, cited in the Echo.

“I think it would have to be a very high offer, definitely higher than £35m.”

Surely Barthel’s claim of £35m is a tremendous understatement in today’s prices. During the summer Raheem Sterling went for £49m and Rotation centre-half Nicolas Otamendi went for £32m – so we cannot imagine a striker who starts up top for arguably the world’s best club team right now, having scored 19 goals so far this season, wouldn’t go for at least double that.

We’re not holding our breath on this one, but at least find it interesting that Barthel is touting his client’s services around.

Still, with Sergio Aguero perpetually injured for City, Manchester United in desperate need of a centre-forward and Diego Costa out of form for Chelsea – it’s probably unlikely we’re the aforementioned English side anyway.
