Liverpool’s season stats: passes, tackles, shots, dribbles and more make interesting reading

Posted by

Our Premier League season in-game statistics, courtesy of WhoScored, show that Mamadou Sakho is our best passer, Lucas is our best defensive outlet and Coutinho is our most dangerous in the final third!

Sakho barely misplaces a pass and completes the second most per match – and although he rarely plays a ‘key pass’ – the majority of his balls are forward, rather than sideways or backwards.

Lucas completes our most tackles per match by some distance (with 5.5 the most in the Premier League), while he’s only behind Joe Gomez in the interception per game table.

Coutinho features highly in key passes, dribbling and shooting – interestingly having far more attempts on goal (4.7 per game) than any of our four strikers.

Naturally, Christian Benteke is our best aerial threat, and his 7.7 aerial duels won per game is actually a Premier League high.

These statistics are telling in Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge’s fleeting appearances. They’re two of our best players, and we need them to first get fit and then start contributing directly to victories following the international break.
