Coutinho and Roberto Firmino brilliant in 3-2 behind closed doors friendly win

While many of the Liverpool squad are on international duty (you can check out exactly who, here), many of our best players are actually still at Melwood, for various reasons.

Coutinho, Lucas and Roberto Firmino haven’t been called up by Brazil, Alberto Moreno doesn’t get in Spain’s squad right now and Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge have been left behind by England because they’re injured.

So Jurgen Klopp used the situation to stage a behind closed doors friendly against Kenny Jackett’s Wolves – which we won 3-2 thanks to goals from our South American superstars.

Coutinho and Roberto Firmino both bagged in the first-half before Wolves levelled up in the second, but Coutinho returned with a winner to finish the afternoon.

Klopp chose an interesting side which included young Allan Rodriguez, the teenage Brazilian midfielder, playing in a midfield three with Lucas and Joao Teixeira.

At the back, Kolo Toure partnered Dejan Lovren, but young Alexander-Arnold got a chance at right-back.

Here’s the side which started and the subs which got time:

Liverpool: George, Alexander-Arnold, Toure, Lovren, Moreno, Lucas, Allan, Teixeira, Coutinho, Firmino, Sinclair. Subs used: Woodburn, Ojo, Dunn, Whelan, Ejaria, Canos, Kane, Cleary, Maguire, Phillips.
