(Video) Teixeira’s Under-21 performance v Sunderland proves he must be given a chance

It’s travesty that Joao Teixeira wasn’t selected for Liverpool’s Europa League squad, because the Portuguese midfielder is crying out for a proper opportunity in the first-team.

The starlet mesmerised earlier in the week for the Under-21s, and individual highlights of his outing have surfaced.

In the game, he’s simply on another level to everybody else on the pitch – technically and creatively.

Time and time again our midfield has lacked spark at Anfield, but Teixeira, in his one Anfield performance of the campaign, was sublime against Bournemouth. He took chances and made things happen, which James Milner, Joe Allen and Lucas did not against Bordeaux last night. Teixeira provides an option in the midfield three either side of the anchorman or in one of the more advanced roles.
