Liverpool squad ranked in terms of value – Clyne £22m, Henderson £25m, Coutinho £55m

The Liverpool Echo has speculated on the values of each member of the first-team squad, which seems to us like a discussion for an international break in all honesty, but we found it interesting nonetheless.

Below, we’ve listed the players from cheapest to most expensive in terms of their Echo value, and stated the Empire of the Kop opinion as well!

What do you think, Reds?

Kolo Toure: £500,000

Our thoughts: Seems fair – although if Toure moves anywhere – it’ll be on a free transfer.

Jose Enrique: £1m

Our thoughts: If he can get a run of games under his belt he can double that, but most Liverpool fans would be happy for him to leave for free.

Adam Bogdan: £2m

Our thoughts: Fair, although possibly could be higher depending on how much value you put on a strong backup stopper.

Jon Flanagan: £3m

Our thoughts: A 23-year-old England international should be worth way more than this, despite his injury. He’s due back soon, and we think he’ll boost his market value quickly.

Connor Randall: £2m

Our thoughts: Based on his debut, he’ll never be Liverpool standard, sadly. Expect him to drop down the leagues. We’d take £2m, certainly.

Pedro Chirivella: £2m

Our thoughts: We wouldn’t sell the talented youngster if a £2m offer arrived, as it would be pointless having a youth system if we did, but he needs more first-team chances before anyone can judge.

Cameron Brannagan: £5m

Our thoughts: A value plucked out of thin air, this one. Klopp’s kind recent words and his recently signed new contract make it probably about right, mind.

Joao Teixeira: £5m

Our thoughts: Undoubtedly has the ability to double this, but the 22-year-old’s path to the first-team is unfortunately blocked.

Jerome Sinclair: £5m

Our thoughts: Talented, but we can’t think of any club who’s pay £5m for the young striker just yet. Hasn’t grasped first-team chances.

Jordan Rossiter: £5m

Our thoughts: What he’s potentially worth to Liverpool in the future shouldn’t just be weighed financially. A local lad in the squad makes Rossiter invaluable.

Andre Wisdom: £7m

Our thoughts: Nobody is paying £7m for Wisdom, who hasn’t been able to get into Norwich’s side for most of this season.

Lucas: £10m

Our thoughts: He’s only 28 still, and there’s no way Klopp would even consider selling Lucas for this money. £10m is a serious undervaluation.

Joe Gomez: £12m

Our thoughts: Perhaps England’s most talented teenage defender. We paid £3.5m for him, but he’s at least quadrupled that.

Joe Allen: £12m

Our thoughts: Too high a valuation for the diminutive Welshman, who’s never established himself in the team since his £15m arrival.

Mario Balotelli: £12m

Our thoughts: We’re having to pay half his wages just for AC Milan to take him on loan! There’s no way anyone’s offering £12m for the Italian.

James Milner: £12m

Our thoughts: A fair price for the industrious midfielder who we got for free in the summer.

Divock Origi: £14m

Our thoughts: Overvalued here. We bought him for £10m and he certainly hasn’t increased his sell-on price in the meantime.

Martin Skrtel: £15m

Our thoughts: In his thirties now which automatically devalues him. Most fans would accept a £15m offer for the Slovakian – who splits Anfield opinion. Still, when he’s on-song, he’s as good as anybody, as his performance against City last week shows.

Daniel Sturridge: £15m

Our thoughts: Worth triple this when he’s fit, at least. Sadly, he never is – meaning many supporters would be happy to take £15m and reinvest in a healthier replacement.

Lazar Markovic: £16m

Our thoughts: Signed for £20m, Markovic’s value has probably halved since summer 2014. We’d say £10m is fairer.

Dejan Lovren: £16m

Our thoughts: Lovren needs to put in a string of consistent performances now to prove he’s worth £16m.

Danny Ings: £18m

Our thoughts: Ings started well, but this is a very generous valuation. Let’s see how he does upon return from injury…

Simon Mignolet: £18m

Our thoughts: Sorry? £18m would make Mignolet one of the dearest keepers of all time. He’s not doubled his worth since arriving on Merseyside.

Alberto Moreno: £20m

Our thoughts: Signed for £12m in 2014, Moreno’s age and talent makes him well worth the stated £20m. Top fullbacks go for serious cash nowadays. Let’s hope he develops into one.

Nathaniel Clyne: £22m

Our thoughts: We got him for a bargain £12m, but with Clyne’s brilliant start to life at Liverpool, we can see him staying on merseyside for much of his career. If Luke Shaw’s worth £30m, Clyne is too.

Emre Can: £24m

Our thoughts: Can can definitely develop into a £24m midfielder, but he’s not there yet. Jurgen Klopp will help him get there.

Jordan Henderson: £25m

Our thoughts: He’s only 25-years-old, is Liverpool captain and an automatic starter in England’s midfield when fit. In this day and age, £25m would be a huge bargain for Henderson.

Mamadou Sakho: £25m

Our thoughts: Before his injury he was playing better than any centre-back in the country. Starts for France and is only 25-years-old. £25m is expensive, but he’s worth it.

Jordon Ibe: £25m

Our thoughts: His age and talent makes him invaluable really, and while he’s yet to prove he’s worth £25m, we wouldn’t sell him for anything less than a ridiculous offer.

Adam Lallana: £25m

Our thoughts: £25m was too much when we signed him, and it’s certainly too much now, with Lallana approaching his 28th birthday. We’d value him closer to £15m.

Roberto Firmino: £35m

Our thoughts: Madly talented, but yet to show it consistently. £35m seems fair, but that’s the going rate for top playmakers and forwards now. It’s up to the Brazilian to prove his £29m transfer fee was a bargain.

Christian Benteke: £40m

Our thoughts: Eyebrows were raised about his £32.5m summer price-tag, so despite a promising start, £40m seems ambitious.

Coutinho: £55m

Our thoughts: Would you sell Coutinho for £55m? We certainly wouldn’t. Try doubling that before it’s even worth considering. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of offer Barcelona eventually come in with if our brilliant no.10 continues his meteoric rise. After selling Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling though, Coutinho is flatly indispensable.
