Jurgen Klopp’s Swansea programme notes – Thanks fans for Thursday night Anfield noise

You get the feeling that Jurgen Klopp regrets his comments about supporters leaving Anfield early, as he’s used today’s pre-Swansea programmes notes to yet again salute Liverpool’s supporters – thanking them for their contribution on Thursday evening.

The crowd was noisy, creating the best atmosphere since the German arrived at the club, and it helped us beat French outfit Bordeaux 2-1 in the Europa League.

But Klopp is adamant that only our best will do today against Gary Monk’s Swansea outfit.

“We have to be at our very best if we want to get another good result and improve our league position,” Klopp wrote – cited in the Echo.

“This is an extremely tough game for us and the players are aware of what they need to do. This competition is so competitive and Swansea have proved this season they can beat any team in this league.

“I would like to thank the supporters for their brilliant backing on Thursday night; the atmosphere and noise was very good and helped the players.

“I hope we can produce another fighting performance that makes you proud of this team.”

We’ve so far not put in a truly scintillating performance at home under Klopp and it’s high time the players he selects today put that right.

Instead, we’ve battered Chelsea and Manchester City away from home, but have not managed to win by more than a one goal margin at home, strangely.

A vibrant, supporting crowd will help – but this comes easier when the team are giving them something to shout about.

With Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson fit again and raring to get back into the side, the players currently occupying first-team spots know they’ll need to be at their best to stay in the side.
