Liverpool finding different ways to win with Klopp

Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Swansea on Sunday was far from impressive and was in stark contrast from the superb performance and win over Manchester City the previous week.

The most important thing was winning because successful teams find a way to win even when their not at their best and Liverpool did that on Sunday.

Liverpool have struggled to win at home this season and have found it difficult when away teams come to Anfield and sit deep in defence with the intention of making things difficult like Swansea did.

Klopp’s men could only manage two shots on target against Swansea’s resolute defence but that was enough to earn another important win thanks to James Milner converting the controversial penalty awarded for handball.

Liverpool had most of the possession without troubling Swansea’s defence too much but the slice of luck resulting in the winning penalty just highlights another way the Reds have found to win games since Klopp took charge.

Liverpool are looking more stronger defensively since Klopp took over and on Sunday Swansea didn’t manage a shot on target. The much maligned Dejan Lovren is looking better with each game after receiving a second chance after Sakho’s unfortunate injury.

The win over Swansea was all the more important with many teams above Liverpool dropping points at the weekend allowing the Reds to climb up to 6th in the Premier League and only 6 points behind leaders Manchester City.

The return of Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge in the second half is more encouraging news for Liverpool with injuries starting to clear up giving Klopp more options.

It was an ‘ugly’ win against Swansea but you won’t find many Liverpool supporters complaining.
