Liverpool player brands Klopp training ‘boring’ but says it ‘gets results’

According to Alberto Moreno, Jurgen Klopp’s training sessions are not very enjoyable!

The young Spaniard gave a lengthy interview with radio back in his homeland, and the Echo cited his comments today.

He did however claim that the squad understand that tactic-heavy sessions are a necessity, and reckons that they’re actually working wonders when it comes to matches.

“With Klopp the training sessions are all about tactics, in order to have the team well-positioned on the pitch, and to know how and when to press,” Moreno said.

“He doesn’t do games or things like that. It’s all tactical. It’s what he likes and what we work.

“In England there are many matches, so there is not enough time to work a lot but in each training sessions he is looking for that.

“The truth is that the training sessions are a bit boring for the players, but then they are the ones that give results on the pitch.”

Klopp’s certainly implemented a style that’s translating into on-field results. The German’s won six of his past seven matches, including unbelievable wins away to Chelsea and Manchester City.

Moreno claims it’s Klopp’s clear instructions and motivation which has helped the team fulfil his vision.

“He arrived here with a clear idea,” said the former Sevilla man.

“He explained to us saying that if we lose it was going to be his fault but he wanted us to follow his idea – and he’s not going to change.

“It is paying off. I think he did the same at Dortmund and it worked well. His idea is fixed and is going great so the best is to do what he says.

“I like his style, being aggressive because it fits with my style. I love it, pressing, steal the ball and go quick on the counter-attack with 11 guys running. I love it.”

Moreno’s been excellent under Klopp, as his tenacity and speed totally benefits the gegenpressing system.

There’s been some tenuous links to Real Madrid as a result, but luckily the player has quashed them (via the Echo).

Moreno has the potential to develop into a wonderful left-back under Klopp, so while the German’s training sessions might not be the most exciting for a 23-year-old – we’d advise the player to carry on listening. It’s working!
