Transfer rumour roundup: Five players linked to Liverpool, including Mario Suarez & Subotic links

It’s December, which means it won’t be very long until the transfer window opens and clubs can rummage around the market for 30 days before panic buying at the very end of January.

And the closer January comes, the more Liverpool rumours will circulate, especially considering we’ve got a new boss who’s yet to sign a player.

Not that he needs to mind, based on recent results.

Anyway, here’s the players linked this Friday, where the links come from – and what we make of them.

Marco Reus – Borussia Dortmund – fichajes

It wouldn’t be a proper rumour roundup unless Reus was linked, would it? This time the moronically unreliable fichajes.net write the story – claiming that Jurgen Klopp rates the German highly. Oh – he also thinks Lionel Messi is handy, and he’d probably take Manuel Neuer on loan. Of course he rates him highly!

Neven Subotic – Borussia Dortmund – Bild

Subotic, one of the cornerstones of Dortmund’s title winning seasons, can’t get in the team anymore. Klopp used to love him, but the new manager Thomas Tuchel doesn’t. Bild reckon he’s a target, but with Mamadou Sakho set to return from injury and try to oust one of Dejan Lovren or Martin Skrtel from the side, do we need him?

Mario Suarez – Fiorentina – fichajes

The Spaniard plays holding midfield, but can’t get in Fiorentina’s Serie A side right now – and with Lucas performing wonders at the base of ours – Suarez won’t get in our team either. (That’s a phrase we’ve never said before!) Take this rumour with an enormous pinch of salt.

Reece Oxford – West Ham – The Times

Manchester United also want the East London starlet, who’s made three appearances for the Hammers this season despite being only 16-years-old. The talent is mesmeric and the Times put an £8m fee on his head. In this day and age though, West Ham would demand more than that, surely? If this rumour had any credence, we’d be pretty excited, although wouldn’t expect Oxford to get in the side for another few years.

Raphael Guirreiro – Lorient – Tuttomercatoweb

Heard of this guy? Neither had we – but it sounds like Guerreiro’s a serious talent after doing a little research. He’s 21, has been capped by Portugal and Lorient have turned down an offer from Borussia Dortmund for his services. Tuttomercato reckon we’re eyeing him up as a potential alternative to Alberto Moreno, who’s interesting Real Madrid. We’d rather just keep hold of our Spaniard, of course.
