Possible Liverpool XI v FC Sion, with Jurgen Klopp set to pick rotated side

Posted by

Based on the 19-man squad Jurgen Klopp has taken with him to Switzerland, this could be the XI he decides to pick for our Group B rubber with FC Sion this evening.

The German’s left Jordon Ibe, Alberto Moreno, Joe Allen and Lucas at home, so it’s certain that many of the players will be used sparingly, if at all.

A draw is all we need to top the group.

Here are the players he can select from:

Mignolet, Bogdan, Fulton
Clyne, Randall, Skrtel, Toure, Lovren, Smith
Rossiter, Can, Henderson, Brannagan, Milner, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho
Benteke, Origi

GK) Adam Bogdan

There seems little reason as to why Bogdan wouldn’t get another runout. He’s not put a foot wrong for Liverpool so far.

DR) Connor Randall

Recently signed a new contract, Randall will allow Nathaniel Clyne a rest.

DL) Brad Smith

Clyne could start at left-back, but we think Klopp might go with the young Aussie who impressed in a cameo against Southampton

DC) Dejan Lovren

One of either Lovren and Skrtel will start alongside Toure, but we think the Croat will continue at the heart of defence following his promising development.

DC) Kolo Toure

Toure’s fit again, and will allow a usual starter a rest.

DMC) Jordan Rossiter

Rossiter’s yet to play under Klopp, and with Lucas at home, this will be the perfect evening to blood the fit again Scouser.

MC) Emre Can

Can’s fresh after missing the weekend suspended, and will be capable of playing Thursday and Sunday.

MC) Jordan Henderson

Could this hopefully easy match be the right time for Klopp to give his captain a first start? We reckon so. Expect him to get an hour at least.

AMRC) Adam Lallana

Oddly didn’t start against Newcastle, so will hopefully get the opportunity to link up with Coutinho again in the final third. Roberto Firmino doesn’t deserve a start after his performance at Newcastle.

AMLC) Coutinho

Coutinho travelled to Switzerland, and like with Henderson, this could be the comfortable match for Klopp to ease him back. We’d love for him to start at the weekend versus West Brom more though.

FC) Divock Origi

Surely the Belgian is a guarantee to start following his hat-trick exploits at St. Mary’s last week. In truth, he should have been selected at the weekend.
