(Video) Christian Benteke’s Liverpool goal v Leicester from wonderful Firmino assist

Posted by

Finally, Liverpool fans have seen their two blockbuster summer signings create something in the final third!

After an hour of the tie with Leicester City this Boxing Day, Roberto Firmino picked up the ball on the left side of the penalty area and beat his man on the outside…

He then perfectly picked out his £32.5m partner in crime Christian Benteke, who stretched to finish past Kasper Schmeichel, giving Liverpool a 1-0 lead.

The pair were playing together up top in a 4-4-2 after Divock Origi left the field injured early on.

The goal is only Benteke’s second in nine, but hopefully it will give the Belgian powerhouse the confidence he needs to now go on a prolonged run. With Daniel Sturridge never available and Origi picking up an injury, we need Benteke firing on all cylinders.

Check out the goal below.
