Liverpool in for Real Madrid attacker, claim Spanish newspaper Don Balon

Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid’s young forward Jese, claim Spanish publication Don Balon, cited here in the Mirror.

The report claims that due to his lack of playing time, Jese will actively force a move away from the Bernabeu in January – with Napoli, Inter Milan and Arsenal also considering the 22-year-old.

Rafa Benitez hasn’t given Jese much of a chance this term. Our former boss hasn’t given him a single 90 minute outing and he’s made just four La Liga starts – not befitting a player of his ability.

Of course, it’s understandable that he’s on the bench with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and co. competing for a starting spot, but it’s equally understandable that the player wants out.

Jese’s used to playing on either flank in a 4-3-3, and could fit in a number of Jurgen Klopp’s potential lineups. Jese’s pace, trickery and ability to arrive in the box are his main attributes and despite Liverpool having a number of attacking midfielders – we’re lacking those characteristics – with Jordon Ibe the squad’s only natural winger.

We’ve no further word as to the truth of the report, and Liverpool based sources have yet to speculate on its validity. But Jese seems the kind of player we should be targeting. He’s very talented and probably available.
