Troy Deeney mocks Martin Skrtel for Watford’s win v Liverpool

You’d have to say that these comments from Watford’s skipper and captain Troy Deeney are fair enough.

The striker, who along with his forward partner Odion Ighalo, has taken the Premier League by storm.

And the pair combined to down us 3-0 before Christmas in what was our worst performance under Jurgen Klopp since the German’s arrival.

Deeney bullied Skrtel who eventually left the field injured, while Sakho’s poor performance can be forgiven because he was just returning from a lengthy injury break.

“I don’t care who we’re up against,” Deeney told the Guardian.

“Our biggest task was supposed to be [Liverpool’s Mamadou] Sakho and [Martin] Skrtel. They were supposed to be too big, too strong, too powerful. Skrtel done a runner and Sakho had one.So, we’re not worried at all who we come up against and who we play against.”

Bullish, ambitious and comments which will united his side and get his fans going. No problem at all, in our eyes.

With Skrtel out though, it doesn’t seem like he’ll partner Sakho for some time.

Instead, Dejan Lovren will start alongside the Frenchman – having put in a superb Boxing Day performance against Leicester City ant Anfield – indicating that this could be Jurgen Klopp’s first choice pairing for the foreseeable.
