Marko Grujic update: Midfielder granted UK Visa, set to fly in Jan 4th

It appears that Marko Grujic will indeed be the first signing of the Jurgen Klopp tenure, with the teenage midfielder set to fly in to finalise his deal at the start of next month.

Serbian reports confirm that the 19-year-old has been granted a visa, and will jet in to Merseyside to put the finishing touches on the deal and complete a medical.

The Red Star Belgrade starlet’s father has been openly against the move, claiming a switch to a Premier League side at this stage of his son’s career will be detrimental – citing Lazar Markovic as an example – but the transfer is still very much on.

Liverpool will pay up to £6m for Grujic, but will receive some of that fee back in a loan payment so that Red Star can retain his services until the summer.

A number of Italian and German clubs have also been chasing the Serbia Under-21 international, but a personal phone call from Jurgen Klopp apparently sealed the deal.

Grujic prides himself on his engine and physicality, and has a knack of arriving late in the box and scoring goals from central positions.
