Liverpool transfer rumour roundup: Forsberg, Biglia and yet another keeper somehow linked

It’s January!

Which means Jurgen Klopp is able to buy players for the first time since taking the Liverpool job.

And the rumour mill has begun to churn, despite the fact it’s very possible the German will go the whole of the month without signing anyone new.

Marko Grujic has been granted a work-permit and will travel to Merseyside to sign a deal and pass a medical in the coming days, but he’ll be loaned back to Red Star Belgrade for the remainder of the season.

Elsewhere, Spanish outlet RMC Sport have again claimed Liverpool have made an approach for Barcelona keeper Marc Andre ter Stegen, despite the fact the Klopp has repeatedly claimed he won’t be replacing Simon Mignolet.

So we can take this rumour with a large pinch of salt.

Lucas Biglia is another apparent target, with Lazio’s 29-year-old Argentine also linked with Arsenal and Manchester United. The mooted £25m though seems a little steep. Liverpool don’t spend that kind of sum on a player approaching his 30th birthday, neither should we.

Another odd link is to Emil Forsberg of Red Bull Leipzig, the 24-year-old Swedish attacker who plies his trade in the second tier of German football. Forsberg would be available for £6.6m, but doesn’t seem a particularly exciting target, despite Forsberg being a goalscorer – something we lack in our attacking midfield positions.
